A recessed space under cover provides room to shed snowy parkas or muddy boots, before entering the cabin. The door, a standard, cheap metal clad exterior job, is mounted inside out so it opens outward to save space.
The box on the left is a propane locker containing two 5 gallon bottles. In this cabin we use gas for the cook stove and the water heater, and 5 gallons last on average two and half months.
